I used to go through Lapeer on my way to Sarnia,, where I also worked for about six months at Dow Canada. I also worked in the Thumb on an oil shale project, but I don't recall right now exactly where that was.

Interesting seeing the rivers for Saginaw, as I used to live in Midland, home of Dow Chemical. Dow was founded there by Henry Dow because of the waste wood from the lumber industry produced a power source, and salt brine was available from relatively shallow wells.
