Very interesting article, Dan. I am intrigued by the fact such a conservative minister set up a seminary for women in the 19th century, and by how many times he relocated. Also, I wonder if the many moves were normal for a Congregationalist minister or, rather, were a result of his, what seems to me, abrasive character?

Thanks, Daly. I think Grosvenor was a bit of an advocate for women, providing they stayed in their "place". His wife was apparently educated -- the archives at Yale University have a diary of hers that I'd like to look at sometime, if I ever get back that way.

But yeah, I got the impression when reading his records of all the meetings on this issue and the persecution of Nathaniel Clark (which I'll write about soon) that he was a bit much!
