I use Heptabase for my PKM. I wouldn’t say it’s for publishing. The whiteboard share feature is more for use with an internal team. There are some good options for publishing a digital garden from Obsidian. The best may be Quartz. https://quartz.jzhao.xyz There are many static site generators meant to build a published site from a set of markdown files, usually stored in GitHub. SilverBullet is another interesting project, as is Trilium Notes. I looked at all of these seriously for a digital garden project last year. If you want WordPress maybe look for a wiki plugin?
Thanks Tracy! At the entry level, Quartz looks a lot like Obsidian Publish with some sanding over the rougher edges. I'm curious whether the MarginNote3-like pdf handling might accelerate some of my processing of documents in my background research for my White Pine Lumber project. I AM coming to the conclusion that a lot of the stuff I post, as I'm "working with the garage door open" during this project, will need to be massaged and packaged a bit into little "stories" that will catch and hold people's attention as blog posts. That's probably a good exercise for me, when all's said and done.
Oh, the other SSG I looked at seriously is MkDocs. It's a mature product meant for documentation, but it has lots of nice navigation features around extensive content. https://www.mkdocs.org/ I was surprised at how useful Trilium Notes is, too, with a bit simpler publishing. https://triliumnotes.org/ -- There are a ton more options to go from straight markdown files (with yaml) than specifically from Obsidian with a plug-in, say. Technically, Quartz also can work from any set of markdown files. You can find a whole bunch of SSGs at https://jamstack.org/generators/.

And I really love this project, although it didn't fit my needs exactly, and it's more experimental. https://silverbullet.md/
The small world of digital gardens may be worth looking into. The whole movement is motivated by exactly these concerns.
