You inspired me to search out and read this "Paper as Passion" article. One of the lines that stood out to me is "What does one do with what has been written? ” Niklas Luhmann asks: “ To be sure, one will initially produce mostly waste." It is this waste of effort that has demotivated me from extracting information on paper cards, and to prefer digital methods, such as Readwise Reader and Kindle. Krajewski wrote, " Logically, an electronic slip box allows one faster access to random terms and likewise, in combination with logical connections, to never overlook — or forget — character strings in the electronic resources."
What still eludes me is an ease of assembling what I have collected into some reasonably useful writing for publication.
Dan, you might want to check out a new Obsidian Community Plugin -- just added to the official list: Zettelkasten Navigation by Terrychenzw -- "Visualize a Luhmann-style zettelkasten." "This plugin provides 2 customViews for navigating a zettelkasten using Luhmann-style IDs and key word indexes. "
That looks interesting, Pat. Thanks! What I did not see in the demo video was bidirectional linking. It looked like all the ideas ramified in one direction only; at least in the visualization.
