I have begun my summertime schedule and my focus on producing content for my next set of students and for the public. This includes my Substack as a major element. I have begun posting content in several topical Sections each day. And I've begun looking at my subscriber lists, to try to get a sense of what it is people are looking at. I have only just begun that process, so I don't know yet if I'm writing a lot of the stuff people are wanting to read. I have noticed that some folks subscribe and then read a lot of posts, but also that some people subscribe and then never read a post. Some folks even disable email, so they stop getting notifications. Is this the same as unsubscribing? Is there a reason to remain subscribed, if you don't engage? I sometimes subscribe to blogs and then don't have time to read a lot. Sometimes I'll binge on a blog every once in a while and then ignore it for a bit. So I shouldn't assume too much, I think, based on the stats.
Another way of looking at this is, have I attracted the right audience? I remember on YouTube, I attracted a bunch of subs who had enjoyed my reaction video to "history of the entire world, i guess". But that wasn't what I was really focused on continuing, so several thousand people were probably a bit disappointed.
As the image above suggests, views of my content have begun to increase, which I like. I was typically getting about 200 views per day; that has jumped to close to a thousand. Another thing that has happened today is that I have officially passed 1,000 posts in this Substack with this post. I suspect it will take me much less than four years to reach 2,000. So stay tuned!
And if you wouldn’t mind, please give me some feedback below. And let me know if you have any suggestions in the comments or by dropping me a line. Thanks!
... but the OBC vids are clearly important.
Congrats on the 1000!!!!!
Congratulations.
