Last night on the Daily Show, Jon Stewart says "Welcome to the Resistance" and the crowd goes wild. Then he qualifies: he's only on Mondays and there will be a bunch of blackout days, so really we can count on him for about 15 hours of resistance. He goes on to make fun of how we were told the election was going to be so close it would be a coin toss. The Democrats' secret weapon he says, was the billion dollars Harris had raised from wealthy donors. This was spent, Stewart says, sending people to the homes of Pennsylvanians not once, but many times. And then lining up lawyers to fight election fraud. The only thing they didn't plan for, Stewart quips, was Trump getting more votes. In the post-mortem, pictured below, a lot of things were blamed for the Democratic defeat. But Stewart says it wasn’t any of these things or even wokeness, it was just time for the Democrats to lose — as they did in 1984 when only Minnesota voted blue. Or, I might add, in 1972 when only Massachusetts did. Funny: in both those cases a candidate was foisted on the voters by the Democratic Party machine and they failed to do their job and elect him. Hmm…
