I'm continuing the work on my Web-Text of American History Told By Contemporaries for several hours every day. Yesterday I added another dozen Primary Sources from 1702 to 1741: "History of the Pilgrims", "Kandiaronk", "Englishmen Hate Arbitrary Order", "Danger of the French", "State of New England", "French Fur Trade", "A Man Diligent in His Calling", "Establishing Georgia", "Salzburg Germans", "Evil Deeds of Spaniards", "Politics in Pennsylvania", and "Eliza Lucas". New Index Notes (the separate pages on topics that support the narrative) yesterday: Trade Goods, Wampum, Dutch-Indian War, Mohican, War of Jenkins' Ear, New France, Eliza Lucas, Motolinía, Taíno, Wamsutta, Massachusett, Lahontan, Kandiaronk. By the end of the week I'll republish the DEMO with a couple more chapters added, and you'll have more to explore!
I think once this is published I’ll continue adding to it, and I’ll probably announce the things I’m adding each week. That will probably be a useful way to demonstrate that the Web-Text is continuing to evolve. Seems consistent with the idea of making this available by monthly subscription. Also, seems like a good time to mention that people can subscribe right now and get immediate access to not only the DEMO vault but to a private Hypothesis group you can use to socially annotate the pages and ask questions or make suggestions. The current rate is $10 a month; I’m thinking I might set the final rate a tad higher. So it’s the best time to subscribe!

I also keep thinking about how to make it active learning. Hypothesis annotation of primary texts is a good start if that generates good exchanges and application of knowledge.
Tempting. But $10 month indefinitely is going to be a lot. Maybe a pricing model that maxes out in “ownership” (permanent access or lifetime?) at a certain amount?
