Primary Sources
I’m beginning to make videos in which I read aloud from primary sources for American History. I’m planning of leaning much more heavily on primary readings in my US History I course this fall. One of the sources I’m going to use is a multi-volume set called American History told by Contemporaries that was published beginning in 1897. The beauty of this set, of course, is that it is out of copyright, so I can use it pretty much as I please. I’ll be assigning many of these readings to my students this fall, but I thought others might be interested as well. So I’m going to make videos and I’ll probably write some commentary on the ones I find particularly interesting, which will find its way here.
