Transcript

This is me reading the second chapter of my own book. This chapter is called “Peppermint in America”. I had written a whole lot more about the English discovery and early uses of peppermint in my dissertation, but my focus in the book was a bit more on the American history. If people are interested in how the sterile hybrid plant was discovered and propagated and used in Mitcham, maybe I’ll write an additional post about that sometime.

A reminder, you can currently get a hardcover copy of the book, produced by the Yale University Press, for the bargain price of $11.48!

MakingHistory
Making History is the top-level thing I do, as a historian, teacher, and writer. I create content, based on either original primary research or to present the findings of other historians to my students. This channel will cover several topics I am researching or teaching, and reflections on the ways that history helps us understand our current world.
