Our Journey, Day 89
In retrenchment-related news, I keep seeing job postings for management and senior staff positions in BSU's marketing office. They pretty much all pay higher than the job I have now, which I'll be losing in May. I'm probably qualified for them, since I'm not only aware of the situation at BSU and the enrollment challenges we face, but I've been a sales and marketing manager and "individual contributor" at several high-tech firms during my previous career.
I won't be applying for these jobs, however. Don't really want to work for that management team.
This morning I wrote a longish post on a Reddit page I occasionally dip into. I've not been paying attention to Reddit recently, but I think I should keep a bit closer track of what's going on there. For all its quirks (and it has MANY), it seems to be a place where people who are sincerely interested in pursuing particular topics can find like-minded folks with whom to share. That's what lifelong learning and self-education are all about. So that's probably where I should be spending some time.
