This was my first day of hammering on hot metal, at the Genesee Country Museum in upstate New York, over the 4th of July weekend in 2010. We were the “1800 House” family and lived like people did in that time. I got really excited about blacksmithing and when we got back to New Hampshire found a local teacher. This goes into the category that Tracy and I discussed, of trying to live the life and see what it was really like, rather than just reading books about it.
