at Racket News. I’ve been saying since well before the election that I was equally afraid of a Democrat win as a Republican win. This commitment to War on the Russian border is one of the reasons. The ratcheting-up of long-range strikes by US and NATO weapons into Russia can only be seen by the other side as US and NATO involvement. We’re hiding behind the fig-leaf of the claim that “yeah, they’re our missiles but a Ukrainian pressed the button”? Finally, I just have to say that it would be extremely ironic if the current vegetable-in-chief got us into World War III because he has some vaguely-remembered personal (or was it financial?) interest in Ukraine. Who is running the American government? Isn’t ANYONE curious??ps. I just listened to the audio version of Taibbi’s post and discovered the missiles we’re allowing the Ukrainians to shoot into Russia are named an acronym, ATACMS, that is pronounced “attack-ems”. As if the previous irony wasn’t enough, we’re racing into this war full-speed with silly names on weapon systems as if this was just a cartoon or a Marvel movie.

If you are really concerned about WWIII (and we should be), then that kind of statement is hardly a constructive thing to write!
So, what would he wish us to do, while Russia continues to bomb Ukraine, has taken about 1/4 of their territory, and is bringing in 100,000 North Koreans to sacrifice on the front lines? As long as Putin is willing to use nuclear weapons, there is little stopping him from taking all of Europe, just as Hitler tried to do; and 70-85 million people died.
