Day 111
This morning I had a Zoom interview for a job directing a campus-wide OER project. Yesterday I completed and sent off a review of a manuscript for the West Virginia University Press. This was the one about Mount Holyoke and the Summit House I mentioned a while ago. It took me longer to complete it than I had hoped, but it was a promising manuscript and I made some suggestions I think would make it even better.
It's interesting, thinking about longer-term writing projects. If I ended up in a job similar to the one I have now, I could continue them pretty much as I've been doing them. With the idea that I'm working toward monographs that would be published by academic presses. Of course, if I don't end up being a history professor, the need for that disappears. I'd then need to decide whether the research I'm doing could be made interesting to a more general readership.
In a sense, it would be valuable to actually have to work out how to make my historical findings relevant and interesting to a popular rather than an academic audience.
