American Environmental History, Chapter 1

"Prehistory"

This is an example of what the videos are going to look like, for my revised American Environmental History course. Rather than making PowerPoints that reiterate the content of the chapters in a “bullet list” format, I thought I’d show the Obsidian Publish pages. I also show how people can use Hypothes.is to highlight the text and annotate it to begin a discussion—either in public or via the private group I set up for contributing subscribers and people taking the “course” once it launches. If you’re not a supporter yet, now’s a good time to join and get access “below the fold”, where you’ll find links to the published content and the Hypothesis link. By contributing, you’ll be supporting this work I’m doing to make Environmental History accessible to people outside elite academic settings. At some point in the future, the videos also will be for contributors only, but I wanted to give everyone a chance to see what this is all about. Thanks!

MakingHistory
Making History is the top-level thing I do, as a historian, teacher, and writer. I create content, based on either original primary research or to present the findings of other historians to my students. This channel will cover several topics I am researching or teaching, and reflections on the ways that history helps us understand our current world.
